Demolition
Work is underway at South Leys
School to urgently demolish a
derelict, unsafe building adjacent
to the dance studio.
The project includes asbestos
removal, securing and
disconnecting the site’s electrical
substation, and rerouting power
to the local swimming pool and
community hub.
Baysgarth Annex

made the site unsafe.

identified a bat roost, so a
license and ecological
monitoring will be in place
before work begins in that
area.
A North Yorkshire Council-owned company
Electrical disconnections
and asbestos removal will be
completed prior to
demolition, and all trees on
site will be removed.
Once finished, the buildings
and car parks will be
cleared, leaving broken
brick hardcore and a secure
safety fence around the
perimeter.
